The election of Donald Trump to the presidency of the United States seems to have taken by surprise scholars and observers. For the first time since the end of the Second World War, a candidate who declines his message by taking advantage of populism, nationalism and isolationism wins the election. In an international context of globalization and interdependence, the eventual isolationist withdrawal of the United States risks opening up new, unprecedented scenarios on both the political and the economic-commercial levels. In light of these uncertainties, the volume aims to trace possible scenarios on the evolution of American leadership in the world, and on the possible implications for the most important regional contexts.
