Description
The Albanian photographic tradition is exemplarily represented by the Marubi dynasty. Over three generations, from 1858, they constituted a single fund of nearly 120,000 negatives, mainly on glass plates. But Albanian photography is not just about this family. About thirty photographers who operated before the Second World War are identified to date, a number of others remain anonymous. These photographers have documented a key period in Albania's history from the end of the Ottoman Empire to independence. Discovering these clichés today, while Albania takes its place among the nations of Europe, can not leave indifferent.
