Description
The fascist occupation, the partisan guerrilla and then the establishment of a communist government. Within a few years, in the mid-twentieth century, Albania is undergoing radical changes that profoundly affect the social and cultural fabric, transforming the nation from a feudal, traditionalist and religious country into a secular state where even long-term minorities submissive ones are looking for a quick emancipation. It is in the context of this intense phase that the story of Sami Kecj, the hero of the new novel by Ron Kubati, takes place. Scion of a well-off Tirana family, Tomtuleri, as he is nicknamed by his companions with the crippled name of a famous actor of those years, will soon join the ranks of the partisans, becoming one of the leading exponents of the resistance; by his side his long-time friend, Demi, and his sister, Ana. The war will bring havoc in the lives of the three characters, upsetting them in the deep: in the whirlwind of events and emotions that feed them, the impossible and clandestine love of Sami and Ana and friendship with Demi will be overwhelmed. At the end of the war for the hero will open a new phase of its history, in the heart of the secret services of the communist government, and in an attempt to survive a bankrupt marriage through the relationship with the jevg Vera.
